Guatemala – Finca OnaOná is one of the oldest coffee plantations in Guatemala. It is located in the department of San Marcos, in the bocacosta north of Coatepeque. Oná means “refuge of bees.” This coffee carries the Rainforest Alliance certification, which indicates that the farm is in compliance with rigorous environmental, social, and economic criteria. The Rainforest Alliance certification promotes decent living and working conditions, gender equality, and access to education for children within the farming community.

The coffee is cultivated under shade (Inga), in a volcanic soil, on hillsides with wavy topography, between 2,500 and 4,000 feet above sea level. It is harvested from September to February and its process carefully by hand. The coffee process at Finca Oná is something very special, for Oná it is an art to plant his coffee. The whole process is worked from the seed to the gold coffee that is carefully selected and processed. The varieties that are cultivated are: Arabico Bourbon and Caturra depending on the height in the farm where the planting takes place.
