We all know that learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends and colleagues. Thus, Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in >100 cities across the globe during which several folks give 20 minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along. We will also have trivia and a door prize.

1) Bees are nature’s most efficient fuzzy little pollinators and largely responsible for some of the coolest plant diversity out there, including many fruits and vegetables we all consume. Sadly, many bee species are disappearing. We need to save our bees and bee poop may unlock some valuable secrets. I’m here to convince you that with a little effort sunflowers and bee poop can help save the bees, and maybe the world by Jonathan Giacomini
2) The sexy side of pollination by Brian Malow. Brian Malowis is a science comedian and blogger for Scientific American. He worked in science communications at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences but the really important thing and what has endeared him most to us is that he likes to photograph insects because like American biologist, researcher, theorist, naturalist and author E.O Wilson says, “it’s the little things that run the world.” And bugs are fascinating.
3) Plant diversity: Plant Diversity for the Whole World Win? Them + Us = We? The More the Merrier? by Tony Avent. Tony Avent is an American horticulturist, plantsman, nurseryman, plant breeder and explorer, author and public speaker. He has a passion for plants.
